Best Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Cases (2026): Picks by Model

  • 19 min read
  • By Daniel Okafor

The short answer

The best Samsung Z Fold 8 case depends on which Z Fold 8 you own, because Samsung sells two with different bodies.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra (the tall model): our pick is the Axon M2, with a hinge cover, alloy frame, rotating metal ring and MagSafe-compatible magnets. Choose the Vanguard H1 for rugged protection or the Apex M3 for slim. A well-made Z Fold 7 case fits too; just check the camera cut-out.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 (the wide model): only cases made for this body fit. Our pick is the Spineguard P1, with the Axon M2, Apex M3, Sentinel H1 and Axon M1 also made in Galaxy Z Fold 8 versions.

A fanned lineup of four foldable phone cases on cream paper — the best cases for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra

"Galaxy Z Fold 8" now means two different phones, and for anyone shopping for Fold 8 cases that matters more than the camera or the chip. The Z Fold 8 Ultra is the tall book-fold that replaces the Z Fold 7, and its folded body (158.4 × 72.8 × 8.9 mm) is identical to the Z Fold 7's. The plain Galaxy Z Fold 8 is the new wide, passport-shaped model, known before launch as the "Z Fold 8 Wide". At 123.9 mm tall × 81.9 mm wide × 9.7 mm folded, no older Z Fold case fits it. Full specs are in our Galaxy Z Fold 8 specs, price & release date guide.

We design cases only for foldable phones, and this guide is how we'd choose a Galaxy Z Fold 8 case for each model: which design suits which kind of owner, which cases carry over from the Z Fold 7, and what is actually made for the wide Z Fold 8. You can shop each range in our Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra collection and Galaxy Z Fold 8 collection. If you only have a minute, skip to the comparison table.

What the two Z Fold 8 models mean for your case

Both phones were announced at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked on 22 July 2026 and are on general sale. These are the confirmed facts that matter when you choose a case:

  • Two models, two bodies. The Z Fold 8 Ultra folds to 158.4 × 72.8 × 8.9 mm and weighs 215 g. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 folds to 123.9 mm tall × 81.9 mm wide × 9.7 mm and weighs 201 g.
  • Price: the Z Fold 8 Ultra starts at US$2,099 and the Z Fold 8 at US$1,899 (256GB). Australian pricing varies by retailer and carrier; see our Galaxy Z Fold 8 price & buying guide.
  • Displays: the Ultra keeps an 8-inch inner display; the Z Fold 8 has a 7.6-inch 4:3 inner panel.
  • Cameras: the Ultra has a 200MP main, 50MP ultrawide and 10MP 3× telephoto. The Z Fold 8 has 50MP main and ultrawide cameras and no telephoto.
  • Durability: both are rated IP48, and Samsung rates the Z Fold 8's hinge to 500,000 folds. Our Galaxy Z Fold 8 hinge durability guide covers what wears first.
  • Wireless charging: both are Qi2 Ready at up to 20W, but neither has built-in magnets. Magnets come from the case (more below).
  • S Pen: not supported on either model, or on the Z Fold 7. The S Pen Fold Edition and S Pen Pro only work on the Z Fold 3, 4, 5 and 6.

The upshot for cases is simple: the Ultra is a Z Fold 7-sized phone, and the Z Fold 8 is a new shape that needs cases of its own. Still deciding between the two phones? Our Z Fold 8 vs Z Fold 8 Ultra comparison sets out the differences.

Will my Galaxy Z Fold 7 case fit the Galaxy Z Fold 8?

It depends which Z Fold 8 you bought.

Z Fold 8 Ultra: yes, it should. Folded, the Ultra and the Z Fold 7 are both 158.4 × 72.8 × 8.9 mm and 215 g, and a case wraps the closed phone, so a well-made Z Fold 7 case should carry over. The one thing to check is the camera cut-out: published dimensions don't describe the camera island, so confirm the case is listed for the Ultra, or check the opening against your phone's lenses before relying on it. More detail in Do Z Fold 7 cases fit the Z Fold 8 Ultra?, and our Z Fold 7 vs Z Fold 8 Ultra breakdown lists what changed between the two.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 (the wide model): no. It is shorter, much wider and thicker than any previous Z Fold, so no Z Fold 7, 6 or 5 case will go on, and neither will an Ultra case. Be wary of listings that claim one case fits "Z Fold 8, 7, 6 and 5", because those are different geometries. See Z Fold 8 Wide vs Z Fold 8: dimensions and fit for the measurements that matter.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra: our case picks

Because the Ultra shares the Z Fold 7's folded body, it has the widest choice of any new foldable. Everything below is sold with a dedicated Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra option. You can browse the full range in our Z Fold 8 Ultra case collection, and our best Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra cases guide goes deeper on this model alone.

1. Axon M2: best Z Fold 8 Ultra case overall

Axon M2 hinge cover case in black with rotating metal ring stand for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold

Our pick · Best overall

Axon M2

Wrap-around hinge cover · alloy frame · 360° rotating metal ring stand · MagSafe-compatible N52 magnets · made for the Z Fold 8 Ultra and the Z Fold 8

View Axon M2 →

The Axon M2 is the case we'd point most Ultra owners to because it covers the most bases at once. A rigid wrap-around hinge cover closes over the spine, an aerospace-grade alloy frame takes the corner knocks, and a metal ring on the back works as a finger grip and as a kickstand that folds out to 180 degrees and swivels a full turn for portrait or landscape. Built-in N52 magnets align the phone on MagSafe and Qi chargers and hold magnetic wallets and car mounts, and it charges wirelessly through the case with the ring folded flat.

Best for: most people who want hinge protection, a stand and magnets in one case. Skip if: you want the thinnest possible profile (see the Apex M3).

2. Vanguard H1: best rugged Z Fold 8 Ultra case

Vanguard H1 heavy-duty rugged case with hinge protection and built-in kickstand for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold

Our pick · Best rugged

Vanguard H1

Multi-layer high-impact polycarbonate · reinforced corners and raised edges · 360-degree hinge coverage · built-in kickstand · made for the Z Fold 8 Ultra

View Vanguard H1 →

If you work outdoors, carry the phone in a bag with keys, or have cracked a foldable before, the Vanguard H1 is our heavy-duty option. Its multi-layer polycarbonate construction is designed to absorb and spread the energy of an impact, with reinforced corners and raised edges around the screen and cameras. It shields the hinge area to keep grit out of the mechanism as you fold, and a built-in kickstand folds flush when you don't need it. It doesn't list a magnet ring, so pick the Axon M2 or Spineguard P1 if MagSafe-style accessories matter to you.

Best for: job sites, travel and anyone hard on phones. Skip if: you want slim, or you own the wide Z Fold 8, because the Vanguard H1 is made for the Ultra's body.

3. Apex M3: best slim Z Fold 8 Ultra case

Apex M3 slim two-piece MagSafe magnetic case in navy blue for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold

Our pick · Best slim

Apex M3

Two-piece slim shell · MagSafe-compatible N52 magnets · soft-touch liquid silicone finish · raised camera and cover-screen lips · made for the Z Fold 8 Ultra and the Z Fold 8

View Apex M3 →

If you take cases off because they spoil the in-hand feel, the Apex M3 is the one to try. It is a two-piece case: separate halves clip onto each side of the phone and leave the hinge free, so the Ultra folds exactly as it does bare. Under the soft-touch liquid silicone finish is a four-layer build with raised edges around the cameras (1.3 mm) and cover screen (1.1 mm), plus a built-in N52 magnetic ring for MagSafe-style chargers, wallets and car mounts. The trade-off is that the hinge itself isn't covered.

Best for: minimalists who still want magnets. Skip if: hinge protection is your priority.

4. Spineguard P1: best hinge protection

Hinge worries are what owners ask us about most, and the Spineguard P1 is built around them: a spring-loaded spine cover slides open and closed as you fold, so the hinge stays shielded from grit and knocks in every position. It adds a built-in 9H tempered-glass protector for the cover display, CNC-machined metal rings around each camera lens, and an N52 magnetic ring that doubles as a 360-degree rotating kickstand. It is also our top pick for the wide Z Fold 8 (below).

Best for: covering the hinge and the cover screen in one purchase. Skip if: you want a metal frame (see the Axon M2).

5. Sentinel H1: best grip and car-mount case

The Sentinel H1 pairs a hinge cover with a shock-absorbent polycarbonate shell and a built-in alloy ring. The ring rotates 360 degrees as a finger grip and a multi-angle kickstand, and it works with magnetic car mounts for navigation. It's a good middle ground if you want a secure one-handed hold without going fully rugged.

Best for: one-handed use and in-car navigation. Skip if: you want MagSafe-style charger alignment. The Axon M2, Axon M1, Spineguard P1 and Apex M3 are the cases with N52 magnet rings.

6. Axon M1: best clear case

If you chose your Ultra's colour carefully, the Axon M1 shows it off. The shell is high-transparency polycarbonate chosen to resist yellowing, with reinforced edges, a raised metal camera bezel and a clear front frame over the cover screen. A ring on the back swivels 360 degrees and opens to 170 degrees as a kickstand, and N52 magnets work with MagSafe and Qi chargers. Like any clear case, it shows fine scratches sooner than a matte finish.

Best for: showing off the phone's colour. Skip if: you're rough on phones.

7. Kinetic P1: best for carrying a stylus

The Z Fold 8 Ultra doesn't support the S Pen (nor do the Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 7), and no case can change that. Our Galaxy Z Fold S Pen guide explains which models do. What the Kinetic P1 does is carry a slim capacitive stylus in a side-loading slot moulded into the hinge cover, clear of the fold, ready for a note or a signature on the inner display. The box contains the case only, so bring your own slim stylus. You also get a full-length hinge cover, a reinforced edge bumper, raised camera bezels and an N52 magnet ring. We compare the options in Z Fold 8 Ultra cases with a stylus holder.

Best for: people who like writing on the big screen with a capacitive pen. Skip if: you're expecting S Pen features, because the Ultra doesn't have them.

8. Scribe K1: best for productivity

The Ultra's 8-inch inner display makes a capable pocket workstation, and the Scribe K1 leans into that: a 4-in-1 set with a full QWERTY Bluetooth keyboard, a wireless mouse, a stylus and a protective case with a stand bracket and 360-degree hinge protection. It's a niche pick, but for people who genuinely work on their foldable it can stand in for a second device.

Best for: writing and email on the go. Skip if: you just want a case.

Also made for the Ultra: the Axis P2, a slim high-impact polycarbonate case with a spring-loaded hinge cover and an integrated wrist strap for a secure one-handed hold.

Best Galaxy Z Fold 8 cases (the wide model)

The wide Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a new body, so the choice is narrower: only cases made for its 123.9 × 81.9 × 9.7 mm folded shape will fit. These are the FoldifyCase designs made in a dedicated Galaxy Z Fold 8 version. Browse them in our Galaxy Z Fold 8 collection, or read Z Fold 8 Wide cases: what actually fits for more on this model.

1. Spineguard P1: best Z Fold 8 case overall

Spineguard P1 MagSafe hinge cover case in black with built-in cover screen protector for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold

Our pick · Galaxy Z Fold 8 (wide)

Spineguard P1

Spring-loaded hinge cover · built-in 9H cover-screen protector · MagSafe-compatible ring kickstand · metal camera rings · made for the Z Fold 8 and the Z Fold 8 Ultra

View Spineguard P1 →

For a phone that no older accessory fits, the Spineguard P1 is the most complete single purchase. The spring-loaded spine cover protects the hinge in every fold position, the cover screen gets a built-in 9H tempered-glass protector so there's nothing separate to hunt down, and each lens sits behind its own metal ring. The N52 magnetic ring snaps onto MagSafe-compatible chargers, mounts and wallets and rotates 360 degrees as a kickstand.

Best for: most Z Fold 8 owners. Skip if: you want a metal frame (Axon M2) or the slimmest shell (Apex M3).

2. Axon M2: best metal frame and ring stand

The Axon M2 is made in its own Galaxy Z Fold 8 mould, with the same wrap-around hinge cover, alloy frame, 360° rotating metal ring and N52 magnets as the Ultra version above. On a wide phone you'll often prop up in landscape for video, the fold-out ring earns its place.

3. Apex M3: best slim

The two-piece Apex M3 is also made for the wide Z Fold 8. It leaves the hinge free and adds a soft-touch finish and MagSafe-compatible magnets while keeping the folded profile slim, which is worth considering on a phone that is already 9.7 mm thick when closed.

4. Sentinel H1: best grip and car mount

The Sentinel H1 is sold in a Galaxy Z Fold 8 version too: a hinge cover, a shock-absorbent polycarbonate shell and a 360° alloy ring that works as a grip, a multi-angle kickstand and a magnetic car-mount anchor.

5. Axon M1: best clear

The Axon M1 clear case, with its 360° ring stand and N52 magnets, is available for the wide Z Fold 8. It's a good match if you picked the Lavender or Pistachio finish.

Not made for the wide Z Fold 8: a dedicated rugged case, a wallet folio, a stylus-holder case or a keyboard case. The Vanguard H1, Kinetic P1 and Scribe K1 are made for the Ultra's body and will not fit it.

Z Fold 8 wallet cases and folio cases with a card holder

We no longer make a wallet case for the Z Fold 8 Ultra, and we don't make one for the wide Galaxy Z Fold 8. To carry cards, pair one of our magnetic cases with a MagSafe-compatible card wallet. These are the magnetic cases made for each model:

The wallet comes off when you want a slimmer phone, and the same magnets hold MagSafe-style chargers and car mounts.

Z Fold 8 MagSafe cases: which ones have magnets?

Neither Z Fold 8 model has MagSafe or built-in magnets. Both are Qi2 Ready, charging wirelessly at up to 20W, but the magnets that hold MagSafe-style chargers, wallets and car mounts have to come from a magnetic case. These FoldifyCase designs have a built-in N52 magnet ring and support wireless charging through the case:

Magnetic case Z Fold 8 Ultra Galaxy Z Fold 8 (wide) Style
Axon M2 Yes Yes Hinge cover, alloy frame, metal ring stand
Spineguard P1 Yes Yes Hinge cover, built-in cover-screen protector, ring kickstand
Apex M3 Yes Yes Two-piece slim, hinge left free
Axon M1 Yes Yes Clear shell, ring stand
Kinetic P1 Yes Not made for this model Hinge cover, stylus slot

Buying a Z Fold 8 case in Australia or the UK

Yes, we ship every Samsung Z Fold 8 case in this guide to Australia and the UK, and standard shipping is free on every order worldwide. Australian orders are dispatched from our Australian fulfilment centre and UK orders from our UK fulfilment centre, so neither crosses a customs border and there are no import duties to pay on delivery. For Australian orders, GST is included in the price shown at checkout.

Our shipping policy estimates 7–10 business days in total for free standard shipping and 5–7 business days for paid express, counted from when you order. These are estimates rather than guaranteed dates.

Wherever you buy, check the model name in your phone's settings before ordering. The Z Fold 8 Ultra and the wide Galaxy Z Fold 8 take different cases.

Which case style is best for a fold phone?

For most people, a hinge-cover case is the best style for a fold phone, because it protects the spine as well as both halves. Two-piece slim cases feel best in the hand but leave the hinge exposed; rugged cases suit people who are hard on phones; wallet folios suit card carriers. These are the points we'd weigh for a Galaxy Z Fold 8.

Buy for the exact model

"Galaxy Z Fold 8" covers two phones with different bodies. Check the model name in your phone's settings, then pick that exact model in the case's model selector. A Z Fold 7 case can go on a Z Fold 8 Ultra; nothing older goes on the wide Z Fold 8.

Decide how much of the hinge you want covered

Hinge-cover cases such as the Axon M2, Spineguard P1, Sentinel H1, Kinetic P1 and Vanguard H1 close over the spine to keep grit and knocks away from the fold mechanism. Two-piece cases such as the Apex M3 leave the hinge free, which keeps the phone slimmest but leaves the spine exposed. If you're hard on phones, cover it.

Check the camera cut-out when reusing a Z Fold 7 case

The Ultra's folded dimensions match the Z Fold 7, but published specifications don't describe the camera island. That makes the camera opening the one place a carried-over case can go wrong. If the opening crowds any lens, replace the case with one listed for the Ultra.

Magnets come from the case

Neither Z Fold 8 model has built-in magnets. If you want MagSafe-style chargers, wallets and car mounts, choose a case with a built-in magnet ring: the Axon M2, Axon M1, Spineguard P1 and Apex M3 on both models, and the Kinetic P1 on the Ultra.

Give the wide model extra protection early on

The wide Z Fold 8 is an all-new design. Samsung rates its hinge to 500,000 folds, but a new body has no long-term track record yet, so we'd lean towards a hinge-cover case rather than a bare two-piece shell for now.

Match the case to how you carry

Be honest about your day. Pocket-only minimalists want the Apex M3; bag-and-keys carriers on the Ultra want the Vanguard H1; desk, video-call and car-navigation users want a ring case such as the Axon M2, Sentinel H1 or Axon M1; card carriers want a magnetic case such as the Spineguard P1 or Axon M2 with a MagSafe-compatible card wallet, since we no longer make a wallet case.

Don't forget the camera and cover screen

Both models have a dedicated cut of our tempered camera lens protector, with high-clarity glass and an aviation-aluminium ring around each lens, and of our Ion Glass screen protector 2-pack, which comes with a dust-free installation kit. Skip the separate screen protector if you choose the Spineguard P1, which has one built in.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 case FAQ

Will my Galaxy Z Fold 7 case fit the Galaxy Z Fold 8?

It should fit the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which has the same 158.4 × 72.8 × 8.9 mm folded body and 215 g weight as the Z Fold 7; just check that the camera cut-out lines up. It will not fit the wide Galaxy Z Fold 8, which folds to 123.9 mm tall × 81.9 mm wide × 9.7 mm and needs a case made for it.

What is the best Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra case?

For most people, the Axon M2: a hinge cover case with an alloy frame, a 360-degree rotating metal ring stand and MagSafe-compatible magnets. Choose the Vanguard H1 for heavy-duty protection or the Apex M3 for the slimmest profile.

What is the best case for the wide Galaxy Z Fold 8?

Our pick is the Spineguard P1, which combines a spring-loaded hinge cover, a MagSafe-compatible ring kickstand and a built-in 9H cover-screen protector. The Axon M2, Apex M3, Sentinel H1 and Axon M1 are also made in Galaxy Z Fold 8 versions. Cases made for the Z Fold 7 or Z Fold 8 Ultra will not fit it.

Is there a Galaxy Z Fold 8 case with a card holder?

We no longer make a wallet case for the Z Fold 8 Ultra, and we don't make one for the wide Galaxy Z Fold 8. To carry cards, pair one of our magnetic cases with a MagSafe-compatible card wallet: the Spineguard P1, Axon M2, Axon M1, Apex M3 or Kinetic P1 on the Ultra, or the Spineguard P1, Axon M2, Axon M1 or Apex M3 on the wide Z Fold 8.

Which case style is best for a fold phone?

A hinge-cover case suits most people, because it protects the spine as well as both halves of the phone. Choose a two-piece slim case if you want the lightest feel and accept an exposed hinge, a rugged case if you're hard on phones, and a wallet folio if you want to carry cards.

Can I use MagSafe accessories with the Galaxy Z Fold 8?

Yes, with a magnetic case. Neither Z Fold 8 model has built-in magnets; both are Qi2 Ready, with up to 20W wireless charging. Our Axon M2, Axon M1, Spineguard P1 and Apex M3 add an N52 magnet ring on both models, and the Kinetic P1 does on the Ultra, so MagSafe-style chargers, wallets and mounts snap on.

Does the Galaxy Z Fold 8 support the S Pen?

No. Neither the Galaxy Z Fold 8 nor the Z Fold 8 Ultra supports the S Pen, and neither did the Z Fold 7. The S Pen Fold Edition and S Pen Pro only work on the Z Fold 3, 4, 5 and 6. A case can carry a slim capacitive stylus, but no case adds S Pen support.

Do you ship Z Fold 8 cases to Australia and the UK?

Yes. Standard shipping is free on every order worldwide. Australian orders are dispatched from our Australian fulfilment centre and UK orders from our UK fulfilment centre, so there are no customs duties on delivery. Our shipping policy estimates 7–10 business days for standard delivery and 5–7 for express; these are estimates, not guaranteed dates.

Our verdict

For the Z Fold 8 Ultra, start with the Axon M2. Choose the Vanguard H1 if protection comes first or the Apex M3 if bulk is the enemy; if you want your cards on board, pair the Axon M2 with a MagSafe-compatible card wallet. If you're upgrading from a Z Fold 7, your current case is worth trying first. For the wide Galaxy Z Fold 8, start with the Spineguard P1, and only buy a Samsung Z Fold 8 case that names the Galaxy Z Fold 8, because nothing older fits.
