The best Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra case for most people is the Axon M2. Pick the Spineguard P1 for hinge protection, the Apex M3 for slim, the Vanguard H1 for the most protection, the Envoy C1 for a wallet case and the Kinetic P1 if you carry a stylus. Each is sold in a dedicated Fold 8 Ultra version, and because the Ultra folds to the same size as the Z Fold 7, Z Fold 7-sized cases fit too. Check the camera cut-out.
Full disclosure: we design and sell foldable cases, including MagSafe-compatible shells, hinge covers, rugged cases and wallet folios for the Galaxy Z Fold line. So we have a horse in this race, and a professional reason to be precise about what fits. This is the honest version: which Ultra case suits which kind of owner, what carries over from the Z Fold 7, and what to ignore. If you're still deciding between the two new phones, our best Galaxy Z Fold 8 cases guide covers both models. Updated 29 September 2026.
Samsung released the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra (model SM-F976) at Unpacked on 22 July 2026, and it's on sale now from US$2,099. Folded, it measures 158.4 × 72.8 × 8.9 mm and weighs 215 g, exactly the same as the Z Fold 7. That's why Z Fold 7-sized cases carry over, with the camera cut-out the one thing to check: the Ultra's rear cameras are a 200MP main, a 50MP ultrawide and a 10MP 3× telephoto. Just don't confuse it with the plain Galaxy Z Fold 8, the new wide model, which takes completely different cases. Full specs are in our Galaxy Z Fold 8 specs, price & release date guide.

Which Z Fold 8 Ultra case is the most protective?
The Vanguard H1 is our most protective option for the Ultra: multi-layer high-impact polycarbonate, reinforced corners and raised edges, 360-degree hinge coverage and a built-in kickstand that folds flush. The trade-off is that it's our rugged build, and it has no magnet ring for MagSafe-style accessories.
That said, buy for how you actually carry the phone, not for maximum armour by reflex. A tradesperson, parent or commuter who drops phones should look hard at the Vanguard H1. A desk-and-pocket professional is better served by a slim magnetic case like the Apex M3, which keeps the Ultra's folded profile close to bare. In between sit the Spineguard P1 (spring-loaded hinge cover plus built-in 9H cover-screen glass), the Axon M2 (wrap-around hinge cover and alloy frame) and the Sentinel H1 (hinge cover, shock-absorbent shell and ring stand). There's no universally "best" case, only the one that matches your risk.
Z Fold 8 Ultra case with a stylus or pen slot
If you want a Fold 8 Ultra case with a stylus slot, the Kinetic P1 is the one we'd pick. Know one thing first: the Z Fold 8 Ultra does not support the S Pen, and neither do the Z Fold 8 or Z Fold 7. The S Pen Fold Edition and S Pen Pro only work on the Z Fold 3, 4, 5 and 6, and no case can restore S Pen support. What a pen slot can do is carry a slim capacitive stylus for quick notes and signatures on the inner display.
- Kinetic P1: a side-loading slot moulded into the hinge cover, clear of the fold, plus an N52 magnet ring. The stylus isn't in the box.
- Envoy C1: a PU leather wallet folio with a stylus slot alongside its card slots.
- Scribe K1: a keyboard set that includes a Bluetooth keyboard, a mouse, a stylus and a case with a hinged pen holder.

Z Fold 8 Ultra wallet case and leather cover options
Two of our Ultra cases double as a wallet. The Envoy C1 is a PU leather folio cover with four card slots, a clear ID window, a cash pocket and a magnetic flap, plus a kickstand, a stylus slot and a shoulder strap for crossbody carry. The Commuter C1 is a PU leather card-wallet case with a magnetic clasp and an elastic back band that doubles as a hidden landscape kickstand.
Neither listing mentions a MagSafe magnet ring. If you want magnetic chargers and a wallet, pair a magnetic case such as the Apex M3 with a MagSafe-style wallet instead.
Z Fold 8 Ultra specs that matter for a case

Ultra cases vs Galaxy Z Fold 8 cases: don't mix them up
A Galaxy Z Fold 8 case won't fit the Ultra. The plain Z Fold 8 is the new wide model, folding to 123.9 mm tall × 81.9 mm wide × 9.7 mm. A case made for it won't go on an Ultra, and an Ultra case won't go on it. A listing that claims one "Z Fold 8 compatible" shell covers both is describing a universal case, and a loose universal case on a foldable is how grit gets into the hinge. If you own the wide model, see Galaxy Z Fold 8 (wide) cases: what fits.
A Z Fold 7 case is a different story. The folded footprint and weight are identical, so a well-made Z Fold 7 case should carry straight over. Published dimensions don't describe the camera island, though, so check the cut-out on day one. Our guide to using Z Fold 7 cases on the Z Fold 8 Ultra goes through it step by step.
What to look for in a Z Fold 8 Ultra case
A case that is sold for the Ultra by name and whose camera cut-out clears all three lenses. After that, decide how much of the hinge you want covered. On a slab phone a slightly loose case is cosmetic; on a foldable, a case that doesn't sit flush along the spine can let grit reach the hinge, and a cut-out that crowds a lens can scratch it or spoil photos. Buy on fit first and features second.
Don't be swayed by catalogue size either. Because the Ultra shares the Z Fold 7's folded body, there's no shortage of covers for it; the market already had a year of Z Fold 7 tooling. Variety of styles (leather, armour, wallet, ring stand) is a merchandising decision, not a protection one. We'd rather you buy one case that suits how you carry the phone than three that don't.
Do you need a magnetic case on the Z Fold 8 Ultra?
Only if you want MagSafe-style accessories. The Ultra has no built-in magnets (it's Qi2 Ready), so magnetic wallets, car mounts and chargers need a case with a magnet ring. We explain the details in does the Z Fold 8 have MagSafe? Our Axon M1, Axon M2, Spineguard P1, Apex M3 and Kinetic P1 all carry N52 magnet rings, and their product pages confirm wireless charging works through the case. If you want the magnets without much bulk, the two-piece Apex M3 is the slimmest of them. Our Z Fold 8 Ultra MagSafe case picks compare them in detail.
What does the hinge need protecting from?
Two things: knocks and grit. A hinge or inner-screen repair is among the most expensive fixes on any foldable, so it's worth protecting on a phone at this price. Impact gets the attention, but the failure people underestimate is grit working its way into the fold area from pockets and bags. That's why we'd point hinge-conscious owners to cases that cover the spine: the Spineguard P1 uses a spring-loaded spine cover that seals the hinge in every fold position, the Axon M2 has a rigid wrap-around hinge cover, and the Axis P2 pairs a spring-loaded hinge cover with a wrist strap. For more on failure points, read Galaxy Z Fold 8 hinge durability: what breaks first.
How much should a good Ultra case cost?
Expect a well-made foldable case to cost more than a slab-phone case, because hinge coverage and two-part moulds are harder to make. Be wary at the very cheap end, where "universal" shells with no real hinge engineering live, but price isn't proof of fit either. A leather case that fits badly protects no better than a cheap one. Our current prices are shown on each product page. Against a phone that starts at US$2,099, the case is a small share of the cost, so fit and coverage should decide it, not a few dollars.
Z Fold 8 Ultra cover and case FAQ
What is the best case for the Z Fold 8 Ultra?
For most people, the Axon M2: a hinge cover case with an alloy frame, a 360-degree rotating metal ring stand and N52 magnets for MagSafe-style accessories. Choose the Spineguard P1 for hinge protection, the Apex M3 for the slimmest profile, or the Vanguard H1 if your phone gets dropped a lot.
What is the most protective Z Fold 8 Ultra case?
The Vanguard H1 is our most protective option for the Ultra. It uses multi-layer high-impact polycarbonate with reinforced corners, raised edges, 360-degree hinge coverage and a built-in kickstand. The trade-off is that it has no magnet ring. For strong protection with MagSafe-style accessories, the Spineguard P1 or Axon M2 are the better balance.
Is there a Z Fold 8 Ultra case with a stylus or pen holder?
Yes. The Kinetic P1 has a stylus slot built into its hinge cover, and the Envoy C1 wallet case has one too. They hold a slim capacitive stylus, not an S Pen, because the Z Fold 8 Ultra does not support the S Pen. The Scribe K1 keyboard set also includes a stylus and holder.
Is there a Z Fold 8 Ultra wallet case?
Yes. The Envoy C1 is a PU leather wallet folio for the Z Fold 8 Ultra with four card slots, an ID window, a cash pocket, a kickstand and a shoulder strap. The Commuter C1 is a leather card-wallet case with a magnetic clasp and an elastic back band that doubles as a kickstand.
Is the Z Fold 8 Ultra the same phone as the Galaxy Z Fold 8?
No. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra (SM-F976) is the tall book-fold that replaces the Z Fold 7, folding to 158.4 × 72.8 × 8.9 mm. The Galaxy Z Fold 8, known before launch as the Z Fold 8 Wide, is a shorter, wider phone that folds to 123.9 × 81.9 × 9.7 mm. Cases are not interchangeable between them.
Does the Z Fold 8 Ultra support the S Pen?
No. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 7 do not support the S Pen. The S Pen Fold Edition and S Pen Pro only work on the Z Fold 3, 4, 5 and 6. A case can carry a slim capacitive stylus, but it can't add S Pen support.
Do MagSafe accessories work on the Z Fold 8 Ultra?
Yes, with a magnetic case. The Ultra has no built-in magnets; it is Qi2 Ready, so MagSafe-style wallets, car mounts and chargers attach through a case with a magnet ring, such as our Axon M2, Axon M1, Spineguard P1, Apex M3 or Kinetic P1. Wireless charging runs at up to 20W.
Does FoldifyCase make a Z Fold 8 Ultra case?
Yes. Our Z Fold 8 Ultra range includes the Axon M2, Spineguard P1, Apex M3, Vanguard H1, Axon M1, Sentinel H1, Kinetic P1, Envoy C1, Commuter C1, Axis P2 and the Scribe K1 keyboard set, each with a dedicated Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra option in the model selector.
The honest summary
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra launched on 22 July 2026 and is on sale from US$2,099. Folded, it's identical to the Z Fold 7 at 158.4 × 72.8 × 8.9 mm and 215 g, so Z Fold 7-sized cases carry over once you've checked the camera cut-out. It is not the wide Galaxy Z Fold 8, and cases don't cross between the two. For most people our pick is the Axon M2; choose the Spineguard P1 for hinge protection, the Apex M3 for slim, or the Vanguard H1 if your phone lives rough. And skip anything that promises S Pen support, because the Ultra doesn't have it.
