Best iPhone Duo Cases (2026): iPhone Fold Case Picks
The best iPhone Duo (iPhone Fold) cases from a foldable case designer: hinge, MagSafe, clear, slim and stylus picks, plus Apple's own Case and Folio.
Editorial
Short answer
The best iPhone Duo case for most people is a slim hinge-cover case with an open side button for Touch ID and a magnet ring for MagSafe. Our pick is the Spineguard P1. For a clear case choose the Axon M1, for the least bulk the Apex M3, and for a stylus slot the Kinetic P1.
Searching for an iPhone Fold case? Apple's foldable launched as the iPhone Duo, so that is the name to shop under. Apple also sells its own iPhone Duo Case (US$79 / A$119) and Folio with Kickstand (US$129 / A$199).

Most searches still say “iPhone Fold”, and some say “iPhone Ultra”. Both were pre-launch names, and we explain why it launched as the iPhone Duo separately. This guide covers the best iPhone Duo cases by use, Apple's own options, and what to check in any case before you buy.
How we picked
We chose these on design, against Apple's published 117.8 × 84.1 × 11.3 mm, not on a retail phone, because none exists until 23 October. Each of our Duo cases is a separate mould, and we do not dispatch any until we have measured a retail Duo and confirmed the fit (expected from late October). We will update this guide with those measurements.

Our iPhone Duo case picks
1. Best iPhone Duo case overall: Spineguard P1
The Spineguard P1 is the case we would put on our own Duo first. Its spring-loaded spine cover slides open and shut as you fold, so the hinge stays covered in every position, not only when the phone is closed. An N52 magnet ring snaps onto MagSafe chargers, wallets and car mounts and doubles as a 360-degree kickstand, and a 9H tempered-glass protector for the cover screen is built in.
Best for: everyday hinge protection with MagSafe and a stand in one case. Trade-off: more features means more parts; if you want a plain thin shell, look at the Apex M3.
2. Best metal frame and ring grip: Axon M2
The Axon M2 pairs a rigid wrap-around hinge cover with an aerospace-grade alloy frame. A metal ring on the back works as a finger grip, a kickstand that folds out to 180 degrees and a mount point for magnetic accessories, with an N52 magnet ring underneath. The iPhone Duo version includes a tempered-glass cover screen protector.
Best for: a secure grip on a short, heavy phone, with a metal finish. Trade-off: the frame and ring plate add more to the back than a plain shell.
3. Best clear iPhone Duo case: Axon M1
The Axon M1 shows off the Duo's Star White or Night Sky finish through an anti-yellowing polycarbonate shell. A ring on the back swivels a full turn as a grip and flips out to 170 degrees as a kickstand, with N52 magnets for MagSafe. The two halves meet at the spine with edge protection around the hinge, and a clear front frame guards the cover screen.
Best for: keeping the phone's own colour visible. Trade-off: the ring adds depth, and the hinge gets edge protection rather than a full cover.
4. Best slim iPhone Duo case: Apex M3
The Apex M3 is a two-piece shell in soft-touch liquid silicone with an N52 magnet ring. The front and back halves clip on separately and leave the hinge free, so the Duo folds exactly as it does bare. Raised lips stand 1.3 mm proud of the camera and 1.1 mm around the cover screen.
Best for: the least added bulk on a phone that is already 11.3 mm thick when closed. Trade-off: no hinge cover.
5. Best iPhone Duo case with a stylus slot: Kinetic P1
The Kinetic P1 is a full-length hinge cover case with a side-loading slot in the spine and an N52 magnet ring. On the Duo, the slot holds a slim stylus shorter than the phone. It does not hold an Apple Pencil (USB-C), which at 155 mm is longer than the 117.8 mm folded Duo. The Duo version adds a tempered-glass camera lens guard.
Best for: note-takers who want a pen that stays with the phone. Trade-off: it is not a home for an Apple Pencil, and no case can store one along the spine.
Apple's iPhone Duo Case and Folio
Apple makes two cases of its own. The iPhone Duo Case (US$79 / A$119, navy blue or sand) is two parts that wrap around both halves of the phone. The iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand (US$129 / A$199, navy blue or taupe) is made of Apple's TechWoven fabric, covers the back and the 5.4-inch cover screen, and has a kickstand that snaps back into place. Both can be ordered from 16 October, when iPhone Duo pre-orders open.
On launch day, Apple's are the only cases designed against a retail Duo, which is a fair reason to start with one. Apple's own product images describe the Case as leaving the titanium hinge exposed, and Apple does not mention a hinge cover on the Folio. Neither covers the 7.6-inch inner display, which is protected by folding shut.
What to look for in an iPhone Duo case
1. The side button must be open
The Duo unlocks with Touch ID in the side button, and there is no Face ID. Fingerprint sensors need bare skin, so a case that covers the button stops the phone unlocking. Why this rules out most rugged cases.
2. Hinge coverage
The Duo is rated IP68, which protects the electronics. It does not stop grit collecting in a folding hinge, and Apple has not published a fold-cycle rating. A case that covers the spine reduces how much pocket debris reaches it. What Apple did not publish about the hinge.
3. Nothing touching the inner screen
The 7.6-inch inner display has a nano-texture finish and folds, so it is the part to keep clear. When the phone is closed, the case must not press on it.
4. Weight
At 254 g the Duo is already heavy for its size. Thin walls with reinforced corners make more sense than bulk everywhere. Our iPhone Duo dimensions and specs guide has every folded and unfolded figure.
5. MagSafe alignment
The Duo has MagSafe and Qi2 charging up to 25W. A good case either stays thin over the phone's magnets or carries its own aligned magnet ring.
6. Honest fit claims
No case sold before 23 October can have been checked against a retail iPhone Duo. Prefer a seller who says how and when they verify fit. Why true fit comes after launch.
What type of case is best for a wide foldable?
A slim hinge-cover case with an open side button and a magnet ring is the best match for a wide, passport-shaped foldable like the iPhone Duo. Wide foldables are short, heavy and thick when closed, so every millimetre and gram of case is felt more than on a tall phone.
| Case type | Best for | Trade-off | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hinge-cover case | Everyday protection for the spine and corners | A little more bulk than a two-piece shell | Spineguard P1, Axon M2, Kinetic P1 |
| Clear case with ring stand | Showing the phone's finish, one-handed grip | The ring adds depth to the back | Axon M1 |
| Slim two-piece case | The lowest bulk on an already thick phone | Leaves the hinge uncovered | Apex M3, Apple iPhone Duo Case |
| Folio | Covering the cover screen and the back | Bulk, and a cover over the outer screen | Apple iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand |
The Duo is 117.8 mm tall and 84.1 mm wide folded, so you hold it more like a passport than a phone, and a ring grip helps more than extra thickness. It is 11.3 mm thick closed; a case with a 1 mm wall on each half takes it to about 13.3 mm. The same logic applies to Samsung's wide model, covered in Galaxy Z Fold 8 (wide) cases: what fits.
Do iPhone Duo cases work with MagSafe?
Yes, when the case keeps the magnets lined up. All five of our Duo picks carry their own N52 magnet ring for MagSafe chargers, wallets and car mounts. The catch is the phone's shape: folded, the Duo is only 117.8 mm tall, so wallets and battery packs designed for taller iPhones can hang over the bottom edge. We cover which chargers, wallets and mounts fit in iPhone Duo MagSafe: what fits.
Will a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold case fit the iPhone Duo?
No. The Duo folds to 117.8 × 84.1 × 11.3 mm. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 folds to 123.9 × 81.9 × 9.7 mm and the Z Fold 8 Ultra to 158.4 × 72.8 × 8.9 mm. Every dimension differs, and the camera and buttons are in different places. An iPhone 18 Pro Max case will not fit either; see iPhone Duo vs iPhone 18 Pro Max for how the two compare.
Is there an iPhone Duo case that holds an Apple Pencil?
Not along the spine. The Duo supports the Apple Pencil (USB-C), which is 155 mm long, longer than the 117.8 mm folded phone. If you see an “Apple Pencil holder” Duo case, check where the Pencil actually goes. We cover which Pencil works and how to carry it in iPhone Duo and Apple Pencil: which one works.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best iPhone Duo case?
For most people, a slim hinge-cover case with an open side button and a magnet ring. Our pick is the Spineguard P1, which adds a sliding spine cover, a MagSafe ring kickstand and built-in cover-screen glass. Choose the Axon M1 for a clear case, the Apex M3 for the least bulk, or Apple's Folio to cover the outer screen and back.
Will there be cases for the iPhone Fold?
Yes. The iPhone Fold launched as the iPhone Duo, and cases are available to pre-order now. Apple sells its own iPhone Duo Case and Folio from 16 October, and third-party makers, including us, have Duo cases cut to Apple's published dimensions. None can have been checked against a retail unit before 23 October 2026.
Does the iPhone Duo need a case?
We would use one. The Duo is rated IP68 and has Ceramic Shield glass, but Apple has published no hinge fold-cycle rating and no inner-display repair price. A case that covers the hinge and corners protects the parts that would cost the most to fix, while leaving the Touch ID side button open.
Do iPhone Duo cases work with MagSafe?
Yes, if the case keeps the magnets aligned. The iPhone Duo charges at up to 25W on MagSafe and Qi2, and cases with their own magnet ring hold chargers, wallets and car mounts. Because the folded Duo is only 117.8 mm tall, some MagSafe wallets and battery packs overhang the bottom edge.
What type of case is best for a wide foldable phone?
A slim hinge-cover case with an open side button and a magnet ring. Wide foldables such as the iPhone Duo and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 are short, heavy and thick when closed, so extra bulk is felt more. Covering the hinge and adding a ring grip or kickstand gives the most everyday value for the least weight.
Can I buy an iPhone Duo case in Australia now?
Yes, as a pre-order. Our iPhone Duo cases are cut to Apple's published dimensions and dispatched once we have measured a retail Duo and confirmed the fit, expected from late October. Apple's iPhone Duo Case (A$119, US$79) and Folio with Kickstand (A$199, US$129) can be ordered from 16 October.
Will a Galaxy Z Fold case fit the iPhone Duo?
No. The iPhone Duo folds to 117.8 × 84.1 × 11.3 mm, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 folds to 123.9 × 81.9 × 9.7 mm and the Z Fold 8 Ultra to 158.4 × 72.8 × 8.9 mm. Every dimension differs, and the camera and buttons sit in different places, so each phone needs its own mould.
Is there an iPhone Duo case with an Apple Pencil holder?
Not one that stores it along the spine. The Apple Pencil (USB-C) is 155 mm long and the folded iPhone Duo is 117.8 mm tall, so the Pencil is longer than the phone. Cases such as the Kinetic P1 have a slot for a slim stylus shorter than the phone instead.
